I have an 8 year old son who has CIE and is having some issues with peers teasing him. I have read a little bit about Camp Discovery and will look into sending him next year. Does anyone else have any ideas for coping with these peer/friend issues? We are trying really hard to guide him towards not letting this condition define him, but it is so difficult. Is there maybe a child that has these issues that would like to be a pen pal?

Hi! Have you contacted FIRST? Have you been to any of the conferences? The best way to find friends for your son is to get involved with the charity. There are also several facebook groups that are quite active and you might be able to find someone his age there.

The charity has several booklets online or in print that talk about some of these issues (www.firstskinfoundation.org) - the password for accessing them is "skin"

I'd be glad to talk to you further anytime!
