Hi Evelyn and Welcome!

The hyperkeratosis inherited that you mention is what we call Epidermolytic Hyperkeratosis so, yes indeed, they are the same.
There are two categories within EHK with many more sub-categories. The two categories are palmo/planter an non-palmo/planter, I'm not sure if the spelling is correct.

You have certainly found the right place for tons of information and quite a bit of humour as well.
