I don't know if it's the NJ weather, or the new cream I've been using on Jules, but her skin has been fantastic. I think it's the cream, because I noticed the difference after using it for a couple of days. It's called Bag Balm, I got it at Walgreens - it's mainly lanolin, I think.

I'm going to attach pictures when I get to my in-law's house later tonight, I don't have my camera wire with me (I'm at my mom's). But, from the shoulder's down, her skin literally looks unaffected. For the past three days, no flaking, no peeling, no reddness. I haven't had to do any exfolliating except her face and scalp (those seem to be in a constant state of peeling in the mornings - my guess is because they're both exposed all the time, while the rest of her body's covered in clothes?). I'm amazed.

Anyway, will post pix later Just wanted to throw that out there. The cannister for the Bag Balm says it's for animals, but the pharmacist assured me it was for people lol Either way, it works!

My mom used to use bag balm on her feet all the time. It is fine for people LOL...not to worry! Glad to hear it's working well!

I used that quite a bit on my daughter when she was tiny!!! It was about the only thing that seemed to do anything for her. One major drawback was what it did to her clothes!

Can't wait to see photos!!!

Wow thats great. Can't wait to see the pictures. I think I will go pick some up and try it. How many times a day are you putting it on her?

Twice a day - once after her bath (and then I put Aquaphor on top of it), and again when I'm getting her into her PJs

As you can see, her face is back to being really, really red lol We used the Triceram for awhile and it worked great...and then it stopped working lol

Wow! I wonder why it isn't working on her face. How weird. She looks AMAZING though -- great work, mom!

Julia looks fantastic! Isn't that amazing! And Julia is quite the chubber bubba - how wonderful to see!
Udder cream - who would have thought, but I do recall a relative of Tony's telling me he used it successfully on his psoriasis...naturally, the 'bag balm' doesn't seem to be available in Australia, but I have looked at the ingredients and will try and find something similar here to try on Lucia. Triceram doesn't seem to make any difference to her...shame, but you get that!
I still want to send you some Papaw ointment to try, so once you have settled in let me know your address

Ahhh, she is too cute. Her skin does look fantastic!!! I tried to find the bag balm at Walmart today. No luck. I will have to try Walgreens like you suggested. My little one is like sandpaper at the moment and that is lotioning every hour or more. Hope the bag balm continues to be the miracle cream cause Jules really does look gorgeous!!

Thanks guys! I sure hope it works longer than the normal 2-3 weeks we get out of creams, before her skin gets used to them lol

Francesca, let me see how much it would cost to send some over there. The balm itself is only $7 here. I'll shoot you an email soon with our new address, we just got it the other day, too

I don't want to be a downer, because Julia's skin is looking so great, but our pediatric dermatologist told us not to use lanolin on children because it can be highly allergenic. Soon after I was told this I met a lady who had been using pure lanolin on her 2 year old son for six months (for eczema) when he developed a severe allergenic reaction to the lanolin and had to spend twelve months in the Sydney children's hospital wrapped in wet dressings. She told me it still affects him as it has made his skin super sensitive and he gets reactions from nearly everything.
I really hope this doesn't happen to Julia. Maybe you should contact your dermatologist, after all it could be a rare thing and my derm has got it wrong.

I wanted to warn you, just in case, I would feel so bad if this happened to your beautiful daughter and I didn't warn you so it could be prevented.

Thanks for the warning! We talk to a derm. before we try anything new on Jules, and she gave us the OK on this product. We're really worried about allergies and absorbtion with Jules because NS has a high incidence of both, so we're overly-cautious lol I'll keep an eye on her though. She seems to be doing fine with it.

From what I've found, lanolin isn't actually a true allergen, it comes from a wool extract. Generally when you have contact allergies, it'll show up right away, it doesn't manifest itself over a period of months. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query...p;dopt=Abstract

For instance, I'm allergic to fruit, so if I were to use a fruit handcream, I'd get hives nearly immediately where ever I applied it.

The only products we use that don't have it are Sween 24 & Shea Butter. Are ya'll faring well with the move? I can't believe that I'm over halfway with this pregnancy!! Do you have any good suggestions for places that have cute girl clothes in 100% cotton? I want to get a smocked cotton dress for this summer, but can only find them in cotton at Strasburg... can't afford that

Erin

We're still in NJ right now, we're moving to MD on Thursday (hooray!). All of our stuff from CA is set to be delivered on Friday, so at least we'll only have one night w/out a mattress lol

Clothes...hm. We buy a lot of stuff from Old Navy. Most of the clothes we have are hand-me-downs lol Once our stuff gets shipped, I'll look through some of our clothes, maybe I can send some out to you. We have literally 4 boxes of clothes in storage from CA, and another 2 boxes from TX that Jules outgrew, and most of them are in really great condition. I have some older clothes (2t-5t) but I already promised them to a friend of mine in the military, she has 4 kids and they could really use them lol

I can't believe you're so far in already! It's nuts, time really does seem to be on warp-speed when kids are involved lol

Erin,

Are you looking for something to do photos in (a special occasion dress) or just comfortable cotton dresses for summer day time wear?

Thanks Courtney for the article, I should have done research myself, sorry. I must admit that I haven't been too impressed by this pediatric dermatologist, I will have to keep my eye on her.

Hi. I was wondering if the Bag Balm was still working on Jules. I just got some tonight and tried it on the little one. Seems to be pretty good. Has she had any sort of reaction to the smell. I found the smell to be strong and a bit yucky. After a few minutes though, I didn't notice it as much.

It's still working pretty well, about the same as it looks in the pictures except her face is a bit worse I don't really notice the smell, but I've been using it for a bit so I'm probably just used to it lol
