What? Blood types have no bearing whatsoever on whether a child develops ichthyosis or not.

My husband and I are both B+

Why exactly would you need to know people's blood types??? That's an odd question as blood type has nothing to do with Ichthyosis.

My aim certainly wasn't to ruffle feathers. A simple question, for the blood types of the parents of children with ichthyosis. For anyone to think that the alleles have nothing to do with ichthyosis, clearly has a very limited background in biology. I wasn't asking if blood had anything to do with it. I was asking for types. I have had a LOT of research done on this, and I am so close to a cure. An actual cure.... not lotions, not accutane, not any of the witch-doctor mumbo jumbo that the self-appointed experts think is best, but an actual cure. I am not doing it for the money. I am not doing it for the attention. I am doing it for my daughter. Years ago... it was proven that the skin develops as a defense mechanism. The mother isn't fully aborting the child, but their is a genetic opposition. I would ask for only intelligent responses. I am not on here, because I am a bored house-husband. If you want to help, help! If you want to be ignorant, talk to someone else... you really shouldn't be talking with me.

Can you tell us more about your research? I'm very interested.

Please don't make the assumption that I'm an idiot because I questioned you. I have 11 years of studying physiology, plus another 6 years of teaching physiology under my belt. I can certainly handle a technical discussion if you care to share it. I have not seen any indication that there is a relationship between blood type and ichthyosis, or for that matter any of the other blood proteins, involved in ichthyosis.

I do, however, have 2 children and a spouse with a very rare variety that none but a small handful of researchers know anything about. Perhaps what you are studying could help in my own quest.

Would you be interested in talking further?

I don't see how anyone was ignorant to you. I felt it was an odd question being that you didn't state why in the world you wanted that information. It seems a bit odd to just appear on a bb and have one of your very first posts to be asking what everyone's blood type is without any form of an explanation. Don't you agree? Before you get angry and defensive in the future, I suggest that you give a second look at your post that caused some questions.
Best of luck on your quest.

DO you know that I pray for boredom??? LOL some of us have laptops and notebooks, and I for one am constantly online due to all of the paperwork I file and taking classes..CEU!!! Anyway,I am all for research conventional and otherwise, and I believe that if you have drive, you can make things happen... so, let me give details -to my old post! I myself the mom am A positive, so is my father. My husband is o positive, and two of my children are A positive, not sure what the oldest is. I did not have an RH factor as we both had positive blood types. My mother is AB neg. We are not sure if my mother or father are the one who gave me the X chromosome for me to be the carrier and pass on Xlinked ichthyosis to my boys. However my sister is not a carrier, and had boys that are unaffected. I realize everyone would automatically jump then to the conclusion that I had to inherit the X from mom, but guess what, according to the genetics specialist I have been seeing (most recently) that may not be the case either-with what we are finding, two X chromosomes can sometimes repair each other and patch left out or damaged material. Anyway Good Luck and I hope you continue your research and do not give up if you hit a road block.

My daughter has Netherton's Syndrome, I'm actually not sure of her blood type. I'm unaffected by have the recessive gene, and I'm O+. My husband also is unaffected with the recessive gene and is A+, I believe.

Just for the game & fair play... I will start by providing you with the following information.
I am the female carrier for x-linked Ichthyosis.
I am AB+
I am a mother of 3 (1 daughter & 2 boys)
I have only one affected son.
My daughters father was AB+ as well. However, he is is not the father of my sons.
In x-linked it is rare that the "fathers" blood type will be an issue.
Moving on....
you said..
(( For anyone to think that the alleles have nothing to do with ichthyosis, clearly has a very limited background in biology.))
????????????????????????????????????
I apologize in advance if I am too blunt, but I feel the need..
my point.
someone that eludes that they are far more educated, infers that they might be a genetic biologist...speaks of people that have replied to this post as..
"Ignorant??"
Umm... O.K..... Please give us all details of your "CURE" that will prevent Ichthyosis from developing in the womb?????
No offence.... But "Doctor Speak" if far more coherant than your post.

I also wish to say that I am the proud mom of a well adjusted pre-teen son that is PROUD of his special skin.. It took some time for him to be "comfortable in his own skin"
I am happy to say that he takes pride in his individuality & thinks it is Cool that only he & his GPaw are 1 in a million..
I also must add..
Much to my dismay...
He is quite popular with the girls..
Is very athletic & his skin is as bad as it gets..
(that time of year)

So mymegan,
Could you please list your credentials??
I would love to continue this debate!!

I too would be very interested in your research. Please enlighten us to what you have discovered.
