Experience with Accutane/Soriatane - 01/08/01 05:36 AM

Hi, I just found this web page and so far it's been a great source for Ichthyosis related information..Anyway, I was wondering what experience any of you have had with using Accutane and/or Soriatane?

I believe I have a mild version of Vulgaris or X-linked ichtyosis (I'm going to get a biopsy done soon...), and these drugs seem to have some serious side effects. So I'm just trying to evaluate whether or not either of these drugs would be worth taking.

So, how effective were these drugs in clearing up your skin? And did you use them in combination with Cremes?

Any info would be appreciated...

if you have vulgaris or x-linked ichthyosis, retinoids donīt help much, because the defect in this type of ichthyosis lays not in an overexpression of skin cells. in your type the skin cells arenīt peeled quickly enough. i would suggest to try normal vitamin A in medium/high dosage (30.000 i.E.)
i have a friend how had good results with that. i will also try it, then i can give you feedback!
