Re: Harlequin Ichthyosis on TLC tonight - 06/22/06 01:49 AM

Watched the first 15 minutes and the last 25 minutes earlier.

Meaningful and inspirational to everyone living with a form of ichthyosis either personally or as a family member. The show focused on two British families caring for children with one of the rarest forms of Ich, their trials, fears and anguish as well as their triumphs, hopes and joy. Daily care routines and life activities were highlighted. Advances in care, both topically and through gene therapy were also briefly alluded to at the end.

I don't know if this show has been broadcast previously, but definately worth DVR'ing/taping if one is unable to watch it.

I think I saw that a month or two go. I remember thinking how lucky they were, to know people so near them going through the same things! I sure wish someone around here had NS!

Hi Maisey.

No problem but no promises. If I do notice a re-broadcast, I'll email a reminder to you. TLC often 'repeats' shows to death so the odds are pretty good that you'll be able to see it. Apparently it has been aired a couple times already.

Hi gryphon - I would love to get a copy of this program. I actually watched it with wonder but I was unfortunatey unable to tape it. I will be ever so happy to purchase it if you could point me into the right direction, I would greatly appreciate your help in this. Thank you - edie

Re: Harlequin Ichthyosis on TLC tonight - 07/25/06 04:00 AM

Hi Edie,

Regretably I did not record the show otherwise I would have gladly sent you a copy. I was pretty busy that night and was doing three things at once as usual. So as you'll notice from by my second post above, I missed a good portion of the show myself.

But thanks for bringing the show up. Because of you doing so, I just did a quick search and found that the show will rebroadcast in just under three weeks. This time it will be on Discovery Health airing 4 times over 3 days (Aug 12-14). Due to your reminder I will be able to notify Maisey who posted earlier here, so thanks again

I've linked the Discovery-Health broadcast times below as well as two sites that give details on the families (N.B. on the ichthyosis.org site you can click on the girl's names to proceed to a second page)

Edie, I just noticed that I didn't really answer your question. I was really tired late last night so just skimmed through your post then. You were asking about video sales of the show, presumably without commercial interruptions, of "My skin Could Kill Me".

I can't find a retail source to buy a copy of the show, including ITV (UK), and TLC/Discovery. I suggest that you *call* the production company, Anglia Factual. The person responsible for "Sales - Rights Acquistions" for the show is a Jill Shawyer. Although her title suggests she handles the sale of broadcast/distribution rights to the show, she would likely be able to tell you if and where it is available for individual sale. I have listed her specific contact details below. Her name was listed as the contact for anyone interested in the Harlequin Ich show in particular, so you should feel at ease calling her.

>> Reminder <<

Tonight, tomorrow, and early Monday, Discovery-Health Channel will be re-broadcasting the ITV/Granada documentary that profiles two British families living with Harlequin ich.

The program description and presentation times are detailed in the link

I editted this post to add that I just noticed that the old topic heading mentions TLC. This time it's on Discovery-Helath Channel, not TLC. My bad.
